About Pastor Jeff

I wanted to share a bit of my story with you so that you could get to know me. In a nutshell, I am an indebted worshiper, a grateful husband, an applauding dad,  and the blessed pastor of the remarkable folks at Calvary Glenwood.

Indebted Worshiper:

Although I grew up in a loving home, I did not grow up in the church.  It wasn’t until I was and adult that I read about the good news.  One day, on the rooftop of my small business I prayed to receive Jesus Christ into my heart and life at age 26. Since that day in 1992, I have grown in my faith and have never looked back.

As a kid I was influenced by my parents who were hard working and weekend warriors – they had some wild parties! When I was young I bought into the idea that drinking and drugs might contain some of the answers I was looking for, so I could truly find myself.  As a teenager, I gravitated toward the rebellious crowd.  I found myself asking the big questions: What is the meaning of life? Why am I here? And the one that really kept me up at night: What will happen after I die? Although I felt certain that Jesus was out there somewhere, I certainly did not think He was interested in me or my problems.  I was empty inside.  Then I read a Guidions Bible and the Word of God penetrated my heart.  The back of the Bible shared the gospel message and I received Christ. I am an indebted worshiper of the One who rescued me from sin and death!

Growing up, it was my dream to one day have a career in aviation, but God opened up a different plan for my life, and I’m glad He did. I hope you will allow God to use you to further His kingdom as well.

Grateful Husband:

My wife, Jennie, and I met at Bible College.  Affectionately, know as the Bridal College!  She is my Proverbs 31 woman (and a Titus 2 gal)!  She is filled with wisdom and very gifted in th her knowledge of the Word.

Applauding Dad:

Our first child, Andrew. is now a teanager! (Born in in 2002).  We have four children – Andrew, Jeremiah, Ruth, and Sarah.  All of them are homeschooled as the Lord has called our family to train our children at home.  Jennie is specifically anointed and gifted in being an educator.  We are using a rigorous curriculum (see www.veritaspress.com) and the fruit is evident.  As a ministry family, we are living as missionaries away from where we grew up.  Sometimes we (Jeff and Jennie) sense the isolation from friends, family and loved ones – and pray we will continue to develop close friends in this region.  However, this is our children’s home town and there is nowhere we would rather be than right here in Glenwood Springs!  As a new small church pastor, our family is invested together in serving this community.  I am very blessed with my wife Jennie and four children.  If you feel led, please pray for us in line with Paul’s great prayer in Colossians 1:9-11.

Blessed Pastor:

God has called me, ordained me, and anointed me to be the blessed pastor of the remarkable folks at Calvary Glenwood.  God  has chosen the foolish things of the world, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to to do His work (cf. 1 Corinthians 1:27).  I certainly qualify.  My testimony can be likened to Paul’s here in this passage: (1 Timothy 1:12-14)  And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry,  although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.  And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. ”

I dearly love the people in our new small fellowship and look forward to the years ahead as we grow in grace together!
