2 Samuel 14 “Incomplete Reconciliation”

2 Samuel 14 “Incomplete Reconciliation”

David’s family is struggling. Absalom has fled after killing his brother. And David desires reconciliation with his son.

Joab, David’s loyal general, tries to help solve the problem by bringing in a woman with worldly wisdom. And together they manipulate David with a story.

Sympathy and mercy are good in personal relationships, but as a king David was obligated to administer justice.

But her words on reconciliation are wise. As Christians, we have a responsibility to initiate and model reconciliation in our lives because God has reconciled with us.

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on a cross so that our sin doesn’t have to separate us from God. But we have to choose to be reconciled to Him.

Unfortunately, although David agrees to bring Absalom back, the reconciliation ultimately failed, because David harbored bitterness in his heart.
